Odds are, some segment of your target audience is part of Facebook’s 400 million active users. But how do you make sure you’re talking to the right people? Is Facebook even right for your brand?
At Indy Social Media Breakfast’s Social Media Workshop tomorrow morning, Facebook for the Beginning to Intermediate Marketer, I’ll be discussing how to find out if your target audience is on Facebook, and if they are…how to engage them.
Engaging people on Facebook goes beyond just pushing coupons and running contests. We’ll spend some time discussing the Facebook Page. Pages allow businesses to share their brands with Facebook users in unique ways. Attendees will learn how to set up a page, how to effectively use your page’s content to engage your audience, and ways to expand upon the basic page to drive increased fan interaction.
Marketing in the social space doesn’t just apply on social networks themselves, so we’ll discuss how to use social plugins and other techniques to drive users to a page. Finally, because marketing and branding efforts on Facebook shouldn’t stand apart, we’ll talk about ways to integrate offline and online brand experiences.
The workshop is TOMORROW, Saturday, June 12, 2010 from 9:30 AM – 12:30 at 8th Floor Theatre. RSVP online at the event page below.
Thank you to Indy Social Media Breakfast for inviting me to speak and Indianapolis Convention & Visitors Association for supporting the workshop!

MediaSauce is excited to continue their partnership with the Indiana Sports Corporation and the 2009 Corporate Challenge. The event is an annual favorite of numerous leading Indiana companies including Simon, BSA LifeStructures, Ice Miller and so many more.
The Corporate Challenge is a fun-filled, annual community event that emphasizes healthy lifestyles and company camaraderie. One hundred Central Indiana businesses will form teams of up to 100 employees and compete against the other participating companies. This year, 4,000 individual athletes are expected to compete in events that include distance runs, shorter sprints, a fitness walk, and field activities (called “Good Sport Events”), such as basketball shootout, football throw for accuracy, golf chipping challenge, and the cornhole challenge, to name a few.
The Corporate Challenge also includes a charity portion competition where companies receive points based on how much they donate to Gleaners Food Bank, the Indiana Sports Corporation’s Geared for Health: Sports Equipment for Kids Program, and Central Indiana Regional Blood Center. more

Thanks to Beth Kanter and David Hessekiel, I have the opportunity to lead a half-day workshop at this year’s Cause Marketing Forum on May 27 in Chicago. The session is entitled “Social Media for Cause Marketers” and will be a lively exploration of best practices, horrible failures, and a demystification of social media and cause marketing.
We have four great sponsors who not only are making the workshop very affordable but also will be sharing their expertise and ideas. Much thanks to Steve Croth from Better the World, Carol Schrader from GiveZooks!, Michael Hoffman from See3 Communications, and Beth Eisenberg from iugo. I’m looking forward to our explorations!
In addition to all this great content, I’m looking forward to giving everyone a very inside look at the recent www.pledgetoendhunger.com campaign. With the help of the my co-architect, Mitch Maxson, we’ll consider the strategy, tactics, results, lessons learned, and other relevant insights. We baked a lot of analytics into our campaign and will share some surprising results with you – this will be our first public presentation of these findings.
If you are anywhere near Chicago that day, it’ll be worth the modest $125 registration. You can register here. Be sure to let me know if you plan to attend! I’d love to hear from you.
