Press Release: Social Media Accelerates Effort to Feed the Hungry

For Immediate Release

Social Media Accelerates Effort to Feed the Hungry

On-line Pledges result in 420,000 meals in the United States www.pledgetoendhunger.com

Many would be shocked that one in six U.S. kids worry about when their next meal will come. As the recession deepens and unemployment rises, more American families face hunger for the first time. A record 30 million Americans depend on food stamps, and food banks face unprecedented demand.

These staggering statistics inspired Indianapolis based, MediaSauce to launch a national, collaborative initiative that is leveraging the power of social media to secure up to 420,000 meals donated by, Arkansas based, Tyson Foods.

MediaSauce launched Pledge to End Hunger, Thursday March 5 at 9am EST. Visitors to the website,www.pledgetoendhunger.com, can sign a pledge to end hunger by committing to give, volunteer or share the message with others.

It took only 28 hours to reach the first 1,000 pledges, triggering Tyson Foods to immediately dispatch a semi-trailer filled with 140,000 servings of food to the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas (CAFB) in Austin. The Truck will arrive in Austin March 16 during South by Southwest, the popular annual entertainment and interactive conference.

On Tuesday, March 10, MediaSauce, activated social networks, Twitter, Facebook and My Space and in 8 hours reached the next hurdle of 2000 pledges which generated a second Tyson Foods donation of 35,000 pounds of food. more

Pledge to End Hunger Campaign: Why Hunger and Why Now?

Childhood hunger is a very real problem in America.

Throughout the year, one out of six children in America worries about when their next meal will come. That’s more than 12 million children at risk of hunger, reports Share Our Strength, a national organization that works hard to make sure no kid in America grows up hungry.

Today, as the recession deepens and unemployment rises, more American families are facing hunger for the first time. A record 30 million Americans are on food stamps, and food banks face unprecedented demand.

MediaSauce believes that no child deserves to go hungry and we are committed to help end this solvable problem. Last week, we launched the Pledge to End Hunger campaign in partnership with Share Our Strength, Tyson Food, Hum. Minds at Work., and Kompolt.

The Pledge to End Hunger web site challenges visitors to help spread the word about childhood hunger in America, find ways to get involved with a food bank in their area, and donate money to Share Our Strength. The site encourages also a deeper dialogue about the issue with a blog focused on this initiative and ways to collaboratively solve the roots of this problem.

Google Analytics Dashboard

Google Analytics Dashboard

I don’t have a whole month’s worth of data on my friend’s site, www.veinskincareinstitute.com, but I do have enough to teach you guys how to read the data and what I would consider important.

Let’s log into our account and see what the site is up to.

First, we see the Dashboard.

Here we can find several things quickly. We see our mountain range of user activity. Looks like on average we get about 30 users a day visiting the site with 579 Visits.

Internet Marketing 101: Understanding Your Current and Past Marketing Efforts

So we’re to the second question I posed for my friend’s company with my Internet Marketing 101: How Do I Start Marketing on the Web?

How's Your Current Marketing Going?

How's Your Current Marketing Going?

2. What is your current marketing strategy and how is it doing? What are your tactics to complete that strategy. You should have a record of what you are spending and how you are spending it and what it is bringing in. ROI is very important for each individual piece but don’t kill something just because it’s not performing as an individual (you should know how it is integrated with all of your marketing efforts). more

Internet Marketing 101: Let’s Figure Out Your Business Goals

Back on Feburary 20th, I began a series on Internet Marketing 101: How Do I Start Marketing on the Web?

vein-skincare-institute-webI’m using a friend’s business as an example. It’s a vein treatment center located in St. Louis called Vein Skincare Institute. She is answering the first of my four questions. This is not how many questions we ask during an investigation of a company. It’s just used for her as an example.

With her four answers, we’ll start working a strategy online that can help transform her business. Instead of surviving, she’ll thrive and grow and, eventually, change the world. Or at least, the world of vein treatment. more
